49ERS FANS BUY BILLBOARD IN SEATTLE TO TAUNT SEAHAWKS AND THEIR FANS - With their team in the midst of a fiery NFC West rivalry with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers fans are taking the opportunity to remind Seahawks fans of the one thing they don’t have — a rich legacy.
After Seahawks fans bought a brick at the 49ers’ new stadium and arranged earlier this month for a 12th Man banner to be flown over Candlestick Park, fans of San Francisco’s NFL team have raised money to purchase a billboard in Seattle.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Niners fans have accumulated more than $8,000 to buy a billboard that taunts Seattle residents with images of the five Super Bowl trophies the 49ers have secured.
The proposed billboard message (pictured) displays the words “How Many Do You Have?” above a picture of the 49ers’ five Lombardi Super Bowl Championship trophies superimposed over and image of Dwight Clark’s legendary “The Catch” play at Candlestick Park.
The campaign comes on the heels of a similar crowd funding stunt from Seattle fans that successfully raised enough money ($2,855) to fly a “Go Hawks” banner over Candlestick Sunday just minutes before the two teams faced off in a game the 49ers won 19-17. Seahawks fans have also pooled money to purchase a personalized brick outside the new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the future home of the 49ers. The message on that brick is not yet known.
This is a bad idea….
